Lefkada produces one of the
best Greek Wines

 

Land of Lefkas.

Somewhere along the road from Nidri to Vassiliki on your right hand side is the winery of The Land of Lefkas.

Here they grow the varieties Vardea and Vertzami producing the best greek wines. Vardea is mostly used for the produce of white wine and the Vertzami is used to make "Lefkadian land red".

 

 

The wine museum.

A complex of four buildings build in the traditional Lefkadian style. One of the four buildings is open to visitors to see how the local wines are produced.

Visiting hours: May - June 10.00 - 15.00 daily.
July - August till 15 September 09.00 - 21.00 daily.

 

 

Siflogo.

Following the coastal road from lefkas town to Nidri you have to turn left in the village of Perigiali. This road will take you to the village of Platistoma. The views while driving up there are absolutely spectacular. Have your camera ready!

In the village of Platistoma the owner of Siflogo wines has his "workshop" on the groundfloor of his recidence. In the beautiful wine cellar this exquisite wine has the perfect environment to mature.

Vertzamo.

Vertzamo wines are produced by the Logothetis family since 1965. Vertzamo as the name says is made of the varieties Vertzami and Vardea that are grown on Lefkas.

This award winning wine is well known all over Greece. In my opinion this is one of the best Greek wines.
