Bareboat yacht charter is for the experienced sailors among you. This means you hire a boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included as part of the agreement. You are responsible for the yacht and the people on board. To be able to do this you will need an International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

For the not so confident and less experienced sailors the best choice is assisted bareboat charter. You can still enjoy the freedom of bareboat charter but with the support of a flotilla and the reassurance of an experienced ‘lead skipper’ .

Even if you have never been on a yacht before and haven’t got a clue about sailing no problem at all, there is always the option of skippered yacht charter. This may cost a bit more but you can lay back and have the skipper do all the work for you. For the ones that like to learn how to sail, the skipper can also show you how to handle the boat, and members of your party may join in and assist.

What is the best time of the year for Greek island yacht charter?

The months April, May and June are in my opinion the best months because it is not so busy yet and there is plenty of space for anchorage. This time of year there are also steady and reliable winds (Maistro). Another plus is that the prices for yacht charter are a lot cheaper.

September and October are also perfect months for sailing.Then the seawater also has the ideal temperature for swimming and snorkeling.

What to pack for a sailing holiday.

When packing for your sailing holiday remember the less you take the better. Because you will spend most of the time on the boat you will be wearing swimwear, shorts and t-shirts. When you go sailing in Greece you expect the most wonderful weather but you may need a light Windbreaker. A good pair of shoes like Deck Shoes is very important because decks can be slippery.

• Sailing Gloves , sailing Boots and Wetsuit .
• Sunglasses, sun cream and sun hat or cap.
• Toiletries preferable in travel size.
• First aid kit. (Will probably be on board as well)
• Waterproof camera, playing cards and paperback books.
• Travel documents and certificates.
